Blouin Division presents the exhibition Chez soi, in collaboration with Le Centerpiece, where contemporary art and modernist design come together. With a focus on Pierre Dorion's architectural paintings, the exhibition creates immersive moments and invites reflection on the art of living.
Some places tell a story, and some interiors whisper memories. Inspired by the philosophy of the mid-century modern movement, Chez soi is built around a vision of everyday life where spatial design, furniture, and light form a cohesive and thoughtful whole, naturally integrating into daily life.
The importance of form, central to Pierre Dorion’s work, is reflected in his ability to capture the light that glides across a wall, the depth of a slightly open door, or the silhouette of a window. By reducing his compositions to their essential elements, he elevates the ordinary. His work invites a gaze that shifts between recognition and contemplation, as if these familiar spaces were revealing a new, almost metaphysical dimension. The subtlety of his pictorial language challenges our relationship with the spaces we inhabit, suggesting that the identity of an interior is shaped as much by what it contains as by what it evokes.
This reflection on form and light resonates with the universe of Le Centerpiece, where the selected furniture transcends its functional purpose to be viewed as collectible objects. Each piece embodies the spirit of an era when furniture merged aesthetics, innovation, and functionality. Charles and Ray Eames, Frank Gehry, Massimo Vignelli, and Cassina redefined modern interiors, placing form at the service of comfort and line at the service of space.
The selection of paintings and furniture evokes the very essence of home: a place that is both functional and poetic, structured and intimate. This space, once home to Ogilvy’s antique boutique, returns to its original vocation: to celebrate objects whose value exceeds their use, becoming symbols of an art of living. Chez soi invites visitors to imagine themselves within these spaces, to envision their own interiors where beauty reveals itself in every detail — a place to live, dream, and be inspired.
